11:33 am - Engagement
I'm Engaged!

He asked me last night after we went English Country Dancing. He did an awesome job with the ring. It is a celtic design.

It will be a long engagement. Most likely a year and a half. My ideal is a wedding in Hawaii with a reception back home.

12:22 pm - Been a while
Wow, it has been a while since I last updated. Still no ring, but expecting it in the next month or two. The kids are doing well. The oldest will start driving soon. Talk about scary.

We have actually been thinking of doing a BBQ one weekend. Let me know, if you are interested and a weekend you would prefer. The 19th seems to be ideal for us.

Chuck is going back to school. He will be taking a full load this semester. He did well over the summer.

I am still at the same job, different department. I'm not traveling any more. I do miss the travel.

I'm the Young CPA's committee chair for the Richmond VSCPA. So, I have been busy planning happy hours and other fun events.

Most important news, I have a new sister-in-law! The wedding was fun. I got to see my grandmother get down on the dance floor. Who knew she could move like that?!?!

8:21 am - Holidays and Birthday
So I survived the holidays and I'm now a quarter of a century old.

Thanksgiving went over well. I didn't burn the turkey and most of my sides came out well. My parents and oldest brother met all of the kids. They all seemed to get along.

My birthday was fairly uneventful. Although, Chuck did surprise me. He took me to dinner. His sister set up a family party while we were gone. I was definitely surprised and clueless.

What is even better is that my dad's mom remembered my birthday! She never remembers it or remembers it wrong.

All in all, it was pretty good.

10:28 am - I R Table....
as we say around the house. I have been finding myself more and more irritable lately. I think it has to do with me stretching myself too then and not having enough fun.

I have lately felt like the only time the kids listen to me are when I say "You should do this or your dad is going to get mad." Otherwise, I am have to have a discussion with them over the chore or repeat myself 5 times. I know, this is part of kids. However, it would be nice for just one day to not get upset. Especially, after all I have done for them.

On top of which, I seem to be losing my patience when people don't tell me things straight out. If I ask a question, then give me a straight answer. If you don't know, then say so. I don't want a long drawn out answer that doesn't tell me anything I don't already know.

This weekend is one of my historic balls. I have friends coming in from Christiansburg. I'm hoping this will put me in a better mood. Hopefully, I can sleep in more.

I'm sure this all has to do with me needing to adjust to living with other people.

8:22 am
So I survived the weekend. I'm totally exhausted and a little grouchy. Not to mention, my feet feel swollen. I think tonight I will go to sleep at 8.

Halloween was a success. The girls got half a pillowcase each full of candy. And we only had to throw out 25-35 pieces. Apparently, our neighborhood was the place to be this year. We went through 8 bags of candy.

It was fun and the best part is that we are mostly cleaned up. Mainly because I made Chuck throw the pumpkins out last night so that the hoodlums didn't get to them.

3:14 pm - Cold
So I am getting/have a sore throat. My ear is starting to bug me a little too. I think my body is trying to stop me from doing everything I want to do this weekend. Does anyone have any home remedies they'd like to suggest?

8:29 am - Life
So my life is crazy. Between traveling a lot, Jessie in dance, the upcoming historic ball in Richmond, Halloween, trying to figure out what I'm going to study for next, organizing Thanksgiving, and trying to figure out who I want to replace my A/C unit, I just don't have much time for anything. I was going to make some ornaments for Chuck's family for xmas. I don't know if I'm going to be able to do it. The most I've done is separate the threads. So, I may have to figure something else out. We will see.

So this weekend is full! Tonight we watch the Hokies play. Friday night is Busch Gardens. Saturday morning take Jessie to dance. We are then going to a workshop for the ball in the afternoon. The pick Jessie up from dance. Drop the kids off at their mom's. Then, I get to go to a Halloween party, after figuring out dinner. Sunday is church and carving pumpkins and cleaning. So, if you see me somewhere and I look dead, you will know why.

Atleast, I get to breath at work. For a little while anyways.

8:08 am - Good Morning!
How is everyone? I'm doing great. My life is going great. I have finally passed the CPA Exam! Go Me!!!!!! Now, I am awaiting the ethics exam, so that I can become a CPA. Then, I get to study for the CFE. (Work is asking me to go for it.) Supposedly, that one isn't as difficult.

So Chuck and the kids are doing great too. We are all adjusting well to living together. Jessie made the Concert Ballet of Virginia's Nutcracker ballet. We are thrilled.

This weekend is the Rascal Flatts concert. So, we are going up to Maryland. He gets to meet my brother's fiance before he meets my brothers. I think that is amusing.

My new job is going well. I switched jobs at the beginning of August. I am traveling a lot and for 2 to 3 weeks at a time. It is a little more than expected, but it keeps me busy. I am also much happier here.

Other than that, not much is going on.

FYI, I have no VT email account. I also know a lot of people with names that start with S. So, I'm not sure who left that last note.

current mood: chipper

7:45 am - People Amaze Me
How hard is it to re-read an e-mail? I got an e-mail the other day and the person kept calling me by my last name. It doesn't matter if I sign the e-mail with just my first name or not. So then yesterday, I received an email with my first name misspelled. The person replied to an email I sent him. My name is spelled correctly 4 times in the e-mail I sent.

On a happier note, I should be getting my new car soon, maybe even tonight. I have to call the dealership later to see if it is ready. I'm so excited. :) This will be the first car I ever bought.

4:31 pm - Been a While
I am finally in town for a while. Florida and Hawaii were a blast. I had a great time hanging with my cousins in Florida. Hawaii was beyond words. I would recommend going there, but only if you can go for a full 7-10 days and add on your travel days to that. Otherwise, the flight just isn't worth it.

There isn't too much to update. I am finally getting a roommate. Actually, I am getting 4, plus 2 more cats. This is going to be interesting. Chuck is moving in at the end of July/beginning of August. I don't think I have ever been happier. He is simply wonderful and treats me wonderfully. Which is something that I don't think I've ever had. His kids are awesome too. I am not saying he is perfect, but who is? I'm sure not! So, we are currently working on my house. The rooms upstairs have new fans and paint and everything. There is still more work to go and I have to weed through stuff. I just have not felt like it.

7:58 am - Hawaii
So I have booked the plane tickets and the hotel. Now, I just need to figure out a couple of things. 1. What I am going to do with my cats that week. Normally, my boyfriend watches them. However, he will be with me. His sister or mom may be coming up to watch the kids. I don't know if I can ask them though. Anyone wanna help? I have a really easy setup. Just requires 2-3 visits. I have an automatic litterbox and waterfountain that need to be changed. That should be it. Oh yeah and playing with my cute adorable kittens.
2. How and when I am packing for Hawaii. Right now I am scheduled to be in Florida the 2 weeks prior to our trip. The weekend inbetween, I will be taking hopefully the last section of the exam. So I will probably be to brain dead to pack for 2 places at once. I am also probably flying in Friday from Florida and leaving for Hawaii early Saturday morning. This is why, I don't think it is safe to plan to do it when I get back.
3. The most important is what I want to do when we get there and when. I decided to stay on one island and actually relax for some of it. I am planning on going snorkling and going to a cultural arts center that I've heard about. Any one know of anything else we should do?
4. Oh yeah, I am also going to have to figure something out about my grass.

On a side note, I am very upset. I have lost one of my Chris Cagle cd's. If you have seen it, please let me know.

10:00 am - Random
So I haven't written in ages. I haven't really gotten online in ages either. I have been busy studying and hanging out with a certain someone. :)

I am currently waiting the results of the last section I took and trying to get motivated to study for the next section. I think I might be hearing about my results soon. Someone in my parents neighborhood heard on Monday. So I may get the results soon. I may not, since I did take a different section. I have mixed feelings about hearing about it. If I didn't pass, it will make things a lot harder to study. If I do pass then I will want to celebrate but then I will only have one more section.

Work is going better. For those who know the issue, I am getting along better with Allen. The uncomfortableness is going away. I may even try traveling with him, sometime. I don't know how that will go.

On a happy note, I am thinking of using my tickets for Hawaii! Any advice, please let me know. I am open to recommendations.

Oh yeah, my cats are doing well too.

3:41 pm - Update
So it has been a while since I last updated my journal. Not much is going on with me.
I failed the last section I took, so I have to take that one again.
I've been doing the single thing and working a ton, but things are finally slowing down.
The Holidays went decently. Christmas, I was recovering from December. New Years, I caused some trouble and had fun while I was at it.
The biggest news is I got 2 cats. Jamie (the daughter) and Julie (the mother) are shorthaired Tabby cats. They are brown, black, and grey. I got automatic food and water dispensers. I also got a litterbox that cleans itself. So when I am gone, I will just need to find someone to come by once during the week to empty the container and play with them a little bit. Any takers? They are 5 months and 14 months. Hopefully, they will be exactly what the doctor ordered.

That is about it. My life isn't that exciting.

7:46 pm - Love is like a computer
I was browsing the web when I came across this. I believe this can be used for both homo and heterosexual relationships. I thought it was cute and funny. I hope you all enjoy it too!

By William D. Hicks

I've pondered love. What input produces the desired output? Finally, I realized — love is like a computer. All components, systems and programs must work harmoniously for love to compute without errors.

Garbage in, garbage out: If you keep telling yourself romantic myths about a prince on a white horse saving you, and that love conquers all… living on clichés, you'll never find love. No one's perfect. No relationship is a fairy tale. While gay relationships may contain two fairy tails — neither one of them is perfect! Well, maybe some.

WYSIWYG: If your date is almost Mr. Right – almost the perfect guy for you, if he would just floss and upgrade his hairstyle, then get a new boyfriend – get over it! Some times it's easier to buy a new system than upgrade it. It just won't happen. After all, “What You See Is What You Get.”

Too much input: Dating six people at once. It isn't fair to anyone! How can you integrate all the data and process all the information (about your feelings) if you're running six programs at once? In this case, you're bound to have system errors and hard-drive crashes. No one likes it when their hard drive crashes!

56.6 Baud vs. 14.4 Baud: If your date moves too fast (falls in love overnight) while you're still trying to make a connection, you're operating on different bandwidths. Be careful: He may be connecting with multiple service providers!

Pentium 5 vs. Pentium 1: If a date is stuck with an outdated operating system (lives in the past, dresses in clothes that were current pre-Vietnam), you two may be incompatible. Your date may be stuck in a Pentium 1 lifestyle while you're in a Pentium 5 world. Be leery — slower operating systems are outdated. Two men with different bandwidths will only connect sporadically.

Power Switch: Make sure a boyfriend knows which button turns you on. If he can't locate it, love may never boot up. Since neither of you comes with instruction manuals, don't mute your feelings. Of course, if he knows how to turn you on, he'll also be able to turn you off!

Program compatibility: Sometimes, later editions of the same program can operate earlier versions, but the transverse in not true. Hopefully you'll have enough commonalities to make love work.

Outdated Processor: If you want love – but he sees sex as fun and games – you're wired differently. That's like trying to get a Pentium processor to run a Mac program. Not going to happen!

Mac vs. PC: Macs are more artistic. PCs are more business-oriented. These systems are not compatible; word processing works on both, but other applications do not!

Intranet vs. Internet: If you're a man with a limited, selective friendship base while he has a World Wide Web of friends, you may be speaking different languages.

Secure Servers vs. Public Domains: Some men have a discretionary network of friends. They may put firewalls up or keep their binary info secure. Others send out cookies to newsgroups. Can these two types really find connectivity? Dubious!

Browsers: Some men are just browsers in the World Wide Web of love. They sign on, search, and visit many URLs. But they forget the passwords that open the ports of a man's heart. Be aware of these browsers.

Pop-ups and Spammers: Some men lurk in popular places hoping to be noticed, while others send out indiscriminate emails and IMs to every man alive. They're spammers. Watch out for deceitful men like this. They're liable to be infected with a Trojan horse and could cause your system to crash!

So a belated Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone enjoyed the days off! I know I did. I got to decorate my house and watch the Hokies beat UVA! That was probably the most stressful thing for me.

10:20 pm - Driver/Bodyguard Wanted...
...Pay is negotiable.

I will be the first to admit that I tend to be a ignorant of my surroundings. My luck appears to be running out. Being a tiny female that often finds herself by herself, it has become a very scary world. I have determined that I need to hire someone to drive me places and walk me from the car to whereever I am going. I actually probably should have someone there to protect me from the 50-80 year old men hitting on me at dances. However, the men tend to be relatively harmless.

In the last month, I had someone follow me into a hotel parking log, a number of old guys hitting on me, 3 guys follow me down a sidewalk, came with inches of hitting several deer, have a car cut me off in the rain and come inches from not stopping in time, had a couple of guys knock on my window while driving down town, and been "mistakenly" grabbed at the chest while doing a dance move. I have so far been lucky enough to not be hurt. As time moves on, things appear to be getting worse.

So does anyone want to be my bodyguard, since I can't get a boyfriend in town?

In the mean time, I may not be willing to go to as many places and meeting up with people.

7:30 am - Busy busy busy
So as predicted, November is not the most fun month for me. I am in town for the entire month for a change. This is nice and allows me to study more. Let's all hope this is the last section!

So my boss, who is not the most technology saavy person, recently discovered blogging. He finds it funny. I find it interesting the generation differences in this office. You can actually see how things developed through the ages by looking at what people know.

So on a happier note, my birthday is in 17 days. I am planning on going somewhere (to be determined later) for dinner. It will most likely be on my actual birthday (the 29th). Let me know if you are interested in joining me. Also, feel free to make suggestions for places to eat.

current mood: sleepy
